Mom’s Clever Takeout Trick Has Parents Cheering

Parents know the battle: getting kids to eat homemade meals can sometimes feel like an Olympic sport. But one mom found a hilariously brilliant workaround—by convincing her kids that her home-cooked food was actually restaurant takeout.

Alex MacLaren, a mom and talented home cook, started plating her meals in to-go containers and presenting them as takeout. The result? Her kids gobbled it up—both the food and the story.

In a now-viral TikTok, MacLaren is seen unpacking a brown paper bag filled with homemade dishes like tortellini minestrone soup and a chicken-and-rice entrée, all neatly tucked into legit-looking takeout trays.

“We ordered in food, this is an Italian place. They sent us a lot of food, you guys!” she announces with theatrical flair.

The kids, none the wiser, eagerly dig in.

The idea struck MacLaren after she ordered takeout containers from Amazon to pack her daughter’s school lunches. Seeing how well it worked for lunch, she expanded the ruse to dinnertime—and it’s been an undeniable success. Although she’s only used the tactic a few times, it’s worked without fail.

In another video, MacLaren ups the ante by claiming the food is from a Greek restaurant, complete with garlic pita bread. Even when one child gets suspicious, noting the containers look familiar, MacLaren stays in character: “All the restaurants use the same containers,” she quips.

The reaction online has been overwhelmingly supportive.

Fellow parents praised the ingenuity, with comments like, “It’s all about the rebrand” and “Mommy marketing wins again.”

One viewer even joked, “Those kids are masters at being gaslit. As a human, be ashamed. As a mom, you’re my hero!!!!”

Interestingly, MacLaren isn’t the only parent tapping into the power of presentation. One commenter admitted to doing the same with homemade Chinese food, saying their child had no clue they’d swapped the restaurant for mom’s kitchen.

When asked how she avoids getting caught cooking, MacLaren revealed she uses a hidden crockpot setup in the basement—proving that a little stealth goes a long way.

As for the ethics of her creative fibs, MacLaren told Today that “gaslighting is a pretty big part of my parenting strategy,” humorously adding, “Why are we overthinking everything?” When it comes to picky eaters, maybe a few white lies are just part of getting the job done.

Because let’s be honest: even most adults would agree—takeout just hits different.

Demi Moore Named ‘World’s Most Beautiful Person’ by People at 62

From quiet seaside towns to vibrant city centers, discover Europe’s hidden gems that tourists haven’t overrun — yet.

Move over, Sexiest Man Alive—People magazine has named its 2025 World’s Most Beautiful Person, and the honor goes to none other than Demi Moore, proving beauty really can evolve with age.

At 62, Moore isn’t just being celebrated for her timeless looks—she’s also opening up about the journey behind them. In her People cover interview, the actress reflects on how her relationship with her body has transformed over the years, from one of punishment to one of peace.

“I was so harsh and had a much more antagonistic relationship with my body,” Moore admits. “And straight up, I was really just punishing myself.”

That mindset, she says, is behind her.

Now, she describes her approach as more “intuitive” and “relaxed.” “I trust when [my body] tells me it needs something to eat, that it’s thirsty. I listen to my body today, and I have a lot less fear.” In her younger years, Moore says she often felt like her body was working against her.

“I felt like my body was betraying me. And so I just tried to control it,” she says.

“Now I don’t operate from that place. It’s a much more aligned relationship.”

The iconic actress, known for roles in GhostG.I. Jane, and Indecent Proposal, is also refreshingly honest about her imperfections. “I’m not perfect,” she says. “I still do drink Red Bull. I do love it. But not many. One.”

Moore’s new title is more than a nod to her physical appearance—it’s recognition of a woman who’s redefined what beauty looks like at every stage of life. And in 2025, that means confidence, authenticity, and, apparently, the occasional energy drink.

This Chef’s Kitchen Hacks Are Winning the Internet

A seasoned chef is taking the internet by storm with a viral video packed with simple yet surprisingly effective kitchen hacks. With millions of views on YouTube, it’s clear his decades of experience in the restaurant industry have struck a chord with home cooks eager to elevate their culinary game.

In the video, chef Joshua Weismann shares practical tips that balance food science with a dash of professional know-how. From produce prep to perfecting texture, here are some of the standout tricks viewers are loving:

Prolong produce life with vinegar

If your fruits and veggies tend to spoil too quickly, try this trick. Soaking them in a mixture of three parts water to one part vinegar for a couple of minutes can help extend their shelf life significantly.

Unlock herb flavor with a squeeze

Before adding fresh herbs to your dishes, bruise them slightly by squeezing. This releases essential oils and intensifies their flavor, making your food more aromatic and complex.

Masher over spoon for better beef

Forget the fork. When browning ground beef, using a potato masher instead can break the meat into finer, more even pieces, which is ideal for tacos, sauces, or casseroles.

Season like a pro

Channel your inner Salt Bae—sprinkle seasoning from a higher distance to achieve more even coverage across meats and other foods.

Freeze your cheese

Soft cheeses like mozzarella or gouda are notoriously difficult to grate. The fix? Freeze them for 15 to 30 minutes beforehand for perfect crumbles every time.

Better biscuits need big butter

For light and fluffy biscuits, skip the small bits of butter and go with bigger chunks. They create pockets of steam while baking, boosting rise and flakiness.

Thickening soup made easy

Accidentally added too much broth? No problem. Toss in some breadcrumbs to soak up the excess liquid and add body to your soup.

While many online food tips come and go, these hacks are resonating because they’re grounded in everyday practicality—something only a lifetime in professional kitchens can teach. The chef’s casual delivery and clear explanations have made the video as entertaining as it is educational, drawing praise from amateur cooks and culinary veterans alike.

There’s a Six-Month Waitlist for This Waffle House — And You Don’t Even Get Waffles

In Decatur, Georgia, there’s a Waffle House so popular, it’s booked solid for the rest of the year. But don’t expect to sit down for a plate of waffles and hashbrowns — this one doesn’t serve food at all.

That’s because the original Waffle House, opened in 1955 by Joe Rogers Sr. and Tom Forkner, is now a full-fledged museum, dedicated to preserving the greasy, glorious legacy of the iconic 24-hour diner chain.

Inside, you’ll find a meticulously restored version of the first restaurant, complete with retro signage, vintage uniforms, original menus, and a treasure trove of Waffle House memorabilia. It’s a nostalgic deep dive into the humble beginnings of what would become a 2,000-location breakfast empire. Tours are free, but by appointment only — but if you show up expecting breakfast, you’ll walk away hungry.

The good news is: there’s an actual Waffle House just down the road, where the hashbrowns are ready to be scattered, smothered, and covered. Consider it the ultimate pre-game before your museum trip.

(Protip:  If you don’t mind skipping the guided tour, you can get in even faster.  There are four open houses each year, from 11am to 2pm.)
