Netflix Is Making Movies for Distracted Viewers

If you have ever hit play on a Netflix movie and immediately picked up your phone, congratulations, you are officially part of the problem.

According to Matt Damon, Netflix knows a huge chunk of its audience is half-watching movies while scrolling social media, and the company is now shaping films around that reality.

Damon recently talked about how Netflix movies are being adjusted to keep distracted viewers locked in. One big change, he says, is pushing filmmakers to open with a major action scene almost immediately. The idea is simple, grab people’s attention in the first five minutes before they drift off to Instagram or TikTok.

But that is not all. Damon says Netflix has also suggested repeating key plot points several times throughout the movie. Not once. Not twice. Three or four times. Why? Because executives assume viewers might miss important details while checking texts or doomscrolling.

Damon quoted Netflix as saying it would not be terrible if characters reiterated the plot multiple times in the dialogue since people are often on their phones. That suggestion did not exactly thrill him. He said this approach is starting to infringe on how stories are told, and that it can affect the creative process in a big way.

This is not exactly shocking news, but hearing it spelled out so bluntly feels a little wild.

Movies used to assume you were actually watching them. Now they are apparently being designed for an audience that might look up every few minutes and ask, “Wait, who is that again?”

Damon knows this world well right now. He and longtime collaborator Ben Affleck just made a new movie for Netflix called “The Rip”, which is currently streaming. While he did not say Netflix forced those changes into that specific film, his comments make it clear that this kind of feedback is becoming more common.

The bigger takeaway here is how streaming has reshaped storytelling. Movies made for theaters assume a dark room, a big screen, and zero distractions. Movies made for streaming assume your couch, your phone, maybe a snack run, and possibly a group chat blowing up at the same time.

For viewers, this might explain why some Netflix movies feel like they spell everything out. For filmmakers, it sounds like a frustrating compromise between art and reality.

So next time a character explains the plan for the fourth time, just know it might not be lazy writing. It might be Netflix politely assuming you were busy liking memes instead of watching the movie.

“Stranger Things” Brings Back This Long-Lost ’80s Snack for a Limited Return

If you’ve been watching “Stranger Things” Season 5, you might have spotted something unexpected hiding among the Demogorgons and emotional trauma: a snack time-travel moment.

And yes, that blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo has now become reality. Nature Valley has officially revived its classic Fudge Chip Peanut Butter Boppers for the first time since 1989, and the nostalgia levels are extremely high.

If Steve Harrington endorses a snack, who are we to argue?

The Boppers are back in honor of the show’s final season, complete with “Stranger Things” themed packaging that looks ready to crack open an interdimensional portal in your pantry.

But before you sprint to the grocery store with your Eggo-loving enthusiasm, there’s a catch. These won’t be sitting on store shelves next to your granola bars. Nature Valley only released them in a special kit, which included four Boppers, a T-shirt, and a recipe card, all for the retro-perfect price of $19.87. (That nod to 1987 is basically the corporate version of a wink, and, of course, it sold out quickly.)

But starting Friday, the company will also be giving away 250 boxes while supplies last.

To score one, you have to head to a website that looks like someone sneezed on their keyboard: sreppob.com. That’s Boppers spelled backwards, nerds!

If you don’t snag a box before they disappear, all hope isn’t lost. Nature Valley plans to drop the official recipe on Monday so you can DIY your Boppers at home. Based on the ingredients, that might be worth trying anyway. These things have a creamy peanut butter center rolled in crisp rice cereal with fudge chips, which is basically the energy bar equivalent of a bear hug.

The Boppers revival is part nostalgia, part marketing genius, and part delightful chaos. It fits perfectly with how “Stranger Things” has always embraced ’80s culture, from the fashion to the mall food court energy we secretly miss.

So, if you’ve been craving a taste of childhood or just want to eat the same snack as a fictional babysitter-turned-battle-hardened monster fighter, now’s your moment. Just be quick. The Upside Down won’t wait, and apparently neither will limited-edition peanut butter snacks.

The Ultimate “Stranger Things” Playlist to Get You Ready for the Final Season

If you’ve been counting down the days until “Stranger Things” returns, you’re definitely not alone.

With the final season dropping, fans everywhere are rewatching old episodes, brushing up on the Upside Down lore, and of course, putting together the perfect “Stranger Things” playlist. After all, the show’s music has basically become its own character. Think Kate Bush blasting while Max runs for her life, or Eddie shredding Metallica in one of the most metal moments in TV history.

If you’re hosting a watch party or just want to feel like you’re biking through Hawkins with the crew, here are the essential songs you’ll want on repeat. These tracks have all appeared in the series over the years, and they nail that nostalgic, eerie, synthy, monster-fighting vibe fans love.

Let’s begin with the biggest one. Yes, that one.

Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” is practically synonymous with the series at this point. Then there’s Metallica’s “Master of Puppets”, forever tied to Eddie Munson’s heroic guitar solo. Journey’s “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)” captures the show’s emotional punch, and Bon Jovi’s “Runaway” fits the rebellious energy of Season 2.

The list only gets more fun from there. The Cars’ “Moving in Stereo”, The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go”, and Toto’s “Africa” bring back some of the most memorable early-season moments. No explanation needed. If you know, you know.

Here’s a list of must-have tracks featured on the series so far:

  1. “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)”, Kate Bush
  2. “Master of Puppets”, Metallica
  3. “Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)”, Journey
  4. “Runaway”, Bon Jovi
  5. “Never Ending Story”, Limahl
  6. “Rock You Like a Hurricane”, Scorpions
  7. “Moving in Stereo”, The Cars
  8. “Should I Stay or Should I Go”, The Clash
  9. “Every Breath You Take”, The Police
  10. “Tarzan Boy”, Baltimora
  11. “Psycho Killer”, Talking Heads
  12. “Africa”, Toto
  13. “Islands in the Stream”, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton
  14. “Just Another Day”, Oingo Boingo
  15. “Hazy Shade of Winter”, The Bangles
  16. “Time After Time”, Cyndi Lauper
  17. “Pass the Dutchie”, Musical Youth
  18. “Sunglasses at Night”, Corey Hart
  19. “Whip It”, DEVO
  20. “Girls on Film”, Duran Duran

If you’re still hungry for more Hawkins nostalgia, there are over 160 additional songs here, and Spotify even has an official playlist ready to go.

So crank up the volume, grab your Eggos, and get ready. This soundtrack will have you feeling like you’re right there in the Upside Down.

“KPop Demon Hunters 2” Won’t Drop Until 2029

If you’ve been waiting to see what happens next in “KPop Demon Hunters”, go ahead and settle in.

Netflix and Sony confirmed that “KPop Demon Hunters 2” is officially in the works, but it won’t hit our screens until 2029. Yes, that’s four long years from now.

It’s not exactly shocking news for animation fans, though. Animated movies, especially ones as detailed and high-energy as this, take years to produce. Every glittery music video moment, every epic demon battle, every shiny Seoul skyline, it all has to be built frame by frame. So, while the wait is painful, the payoff should be gorgeous.

The only confirmed details so far are that the sequel is in production and will be directed by the same creative duo behind the first movie, Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans.

No hints yet about what the story will cover or whether the original voice cast is coming back.

Still, fans of the first film are already buzzing online. The original “KPop Demon Hunters” blended stylish animation, K-pop glamour, and monster-fighting chaos into something that felt like Blackpink meets “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”. It became a cult hit for that very reason, with viewers begging for more.

So while 2029 feels like a lifetime away, at least we know the wait will eventually end. Until then, there’s plenty of time to perfect your dance moves and brush up on your demon-slaying skills.

“Stranger Things” Confirms What We Feared: Eddie Munson Is Gone for Good

The dream is dead, “Stranger Things” fans – literally.

Creator Matt Duffer has officially crushed the long-running theory that Eddie Munson might somehow make a comeback in the show’s fifth and final season.

In an interview, Duffer confirmed what most of us probably knew deep down but refused to accept: Eddie’s gone for good. “I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people,” Duffer said. “But no, he’s dead. Joe is so busy anyway. He’s shot like five movies since! When’s he got time to come and shoot ‘Stranger Things‘?”

Duffer added,”No, sadly, RIP. He’s fully under that ground.”

It’s a rough blow for fans who fell in love with Eddie’s chaotic energy and heavy metal heart. His heroic Season 4 sendoff shredding Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” in the Upside Down before sacrificing himself, was one of the show’s most unforgettable moments. But ever since, the fandom has been buzzing with conspiracy theories and wishful thinking.

Joseph Quinn, who played Eddie, didn’t exactly help. In mid-2024, he told fans there was a “high chance” of his character returning, fueling months of speculation that maybe, just maybe, the lovable metalhead wasn’t gone forever. Was he messing with us? Or was Duffer playing defense to keep a secret twist under wraps? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Fans have been flooding social media with heartbreak and memes, mourning Eddie all over again. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “They could’ve at least given us ghost Eddie. Justice for Hawkins’ most misunderstood rock god!”

The countdown is now on for the show’s final chapter. The first four episodes of “Stranger Things” Season 5 will drop November 26th on Netflix.

Long live the Hellfire Club.

Charlie Sheen Went Fishing for the Loch Ness Monster with a Leg of Lamb and a Bottle of Whiskey

With the arrival of the new Netflix doc “aka Charlie Sheen,” there’s a whole new generation of young people just finding out he went batshit crazy in the early 2010s.

Sure, his “winning” and “tiger blood” era only lasted a few years – which he somehow survived – but for better or worse, it was a huge thread in the fabric of American culture.

So it should surprise no one that Charlie firmly believes in the existence of the Loch Ness Monster… and once went looking for it.  (Her?)

He booked a ticket to Scotland and bought some whiskey

In 2013, Charlie booked a trip to Scotland. He had one of his people call a local hotel owner and tell him to gather up an old-style wooden rowboat, a traditional kerosene lamp, a large hook, a thick chain, and a leg of lamb.

If some of that sounds familiar, it’s because Charlie was allegedly inspired by the scene in “Jaws” where two guys try to catch the shark off a pier by stabbing a “holiday roast” with a big hook and tossing it into the drink.

When Charlie was assured he’d have everything he needed, he flew to Scotland on a private jet, then went out onto the Loch with two friends, his leg of lamb… and of course, a bottle of whiskey.

Fishing for Nessie at 3:00 A.M.

According to the hotel owner, “He went out on the rowing boat on Friday afternoon with his friends and again on Friday night until about 3:00 A.M.”

Not surprisingly, they didn’t hook any large, aquatic cryptids. But in an appearance on “The Tonight Show” in 2014, he told Jay Leno that on his last day in Scotland, “Something happened – there was an event at the top of the water that was crazy.”

Then again, Charlie appeared a little confused even during that interview, because he also told Jay, “That’s where Loch Ness lives. In Lake Nessie.”

He had company…

An interesting side note:  One of the guys who went out on the boat with Charlie was Todd Zeile, a retired baseball player who spent 16 years in the majors. (He bounced around to 12 different MLB teams in that span, but never ended up “winning” a World Series.)

The other was Brian Peck, who spent 16 months in prison from 2004 to 2005 for the sexual assault of a minor… who was later revealed to be Drake Bell of “Drake and Josh” fame. Despite his conviction, Peck continued to get work, including as a stand-in for Charlie on the series “Anger Management” in 2012.

Charlie even shared a pic of them in a tweet about the trip, joking they were “sanctioned archeologists” with a grant from MIT.

So yeah, there was a good stretch there where Charlie Sheen (aka Carlos Estevez) was doing very reasonable things with very reasonable people. #winning

Wendy’s Went Full Goth for Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’—I Waited in Line Five Hours for It

Yes, you read that right. I waited in line five-and-a-half hours for Wendy’s, but it wasn’t an ordinary Wendy’s. It was Wednesday’s.

For one day only – a Thursday for some reason 🤷‍♀️ – a location in Norwalk, California was transformed into a Wednesday Addams-themed spookfest to celebrate Season 2 of Netflix’s “Wednesday.”

“The Meal of Misfortune”

It was a themed drive-thru experience, and I got to try the new “Meal of Misfortune” a few days earlier than the rest of America.

The meal includes “Rest in 10-Piece Nuggets,” “Cursed & Crispy Fries,” a “Raven’s Blood Frosty” (vanilla with a dark-cherry swirl), and two mysteriously spicy “Dips of Dread.” There’s a total of four different sauces you can get. Oh, and they’re different shades of purple, too.

The Raven’s Blood Frosty is great!

The Frosty was probably my favorite part. It includes a purple spoon that has a handle with a raven and skull. Since it was a special event, I also received a collectible pin at the start of the experience.

Not your normal drive-thru experience

Once I ordered my meal, I drove through the foggy “Nevermore Academy” gates and into different rooms inspired by the show. At the end, a worker got your order by opening a morgue door.

You can try it too… without waiting five hours.

Wendy’s announced the “Meal of Misfortune” would be available nationwide starting Monday, August 4th, just in time for the new season of “Wednesday” premiering August 6th.

Yes, I waited 5 and a half hours for the Wendy’s x “Wednesday” pop-up event! 🍟👻🖤 #pov #wednesday #addamsfamily #Netflix #wendys #spooky
