The Latest Fitness Trend: Running Around on All Fours

Apparently, treadmills and dumbbells are out, and the hot new fitness craze is… pretending you’re a golden retriever.

The New York Post says people are now working out by “running and jumping on all fours like animals.” It’s called quadrobics, which sounds less like exercise and more like something your toddler invented in the backyard.

Clips are blowing up on social media, with people doing bear crawls and cat leaps… and yes, sometimes while wearing masks and tails. (The Post swears this has “nothing to do with furries.” Which, let’s be honest, is exactly the kind of disclaimer you give when it has everything to do with furries.)

One quadrobics fan says, “It’s definitely a full-body workout. I’ve lost a lot of weight and even got a six-pack.”

She’s been at it for a year and admits she’s still “not very good,” which makes sense because there’s no elegant way to gallop across a field on all fours unless you were literally born a horse.

A trainer explains that quadrobics overlaps with “primal movement,” and that people are craving “functional, holistic, playful ways to move.” Translation: jogging is boring, so let’s get on the ground and look like a family of raccoons fighting over a trash can.

If you’re tempted to try it, experts suggest starting small with bear crawls, leopard crawls, or crab reaches. Don’t just leap straight into cat jumps unless you’re excited about explaining to an ER nurse that you dislocated your shoulder while “panthering.”

So, if you see someone in the park galloping across the grass on all fours this fall, don’t panic… it’s not a feral human. It’s just fitness. And probably also content for TikTok.

“P” as in _____: Woman’s Silly Voicemail Spelling Goes Viral

Imagine you have to spell a word over the phone and use words to clarify each letter. What word do you use for the letter “P”?

“Papa” is the official word from the phonetic alphabet used by the military. But Peter, Paul, panda, puppy, or pizza are also great options.

Something about the choice made by this woman at a dermatologist’s office in Atlanta is just funnier… at least to her.

The fact that her coworker couldn’t stop laughing in the background didn’t help her case of the giggles. Kudos to the patient for sharing – not sure laughter is what you want to hear in a voicemail relaying important news about your health.

TikTok Debate: Do You Check Out at a Hotel… or Nah?

Checking out of a hotel used to be a whole production: stand in line, hand over your key, maybe argue about that $6 minibar Snickers you definitely didn’t eat. Now? For many travelers, it’s more like grab your bag and vanish like a travel ninja.

That’s exactly what kicked off a viral debate when a woman posted a TikTok of herself walking straight from her hotel room to the parking lot. Her caption: “Older generations: This is how you check out of a hotel. You just walk out.” She doubled down in the description, saying the front desk doesn’t need to know and they definitely don’t need to chit-chat about it.

Technically, she’s right… plenty of hotels have app-based check-out, virtual receipts, and key cards that might as well be coasters once you’re done. But the comment section? Let’s just say it turned into the hospitality version of a family holiday argument.

People who say they’ve worked in hotels believe you should still give a quick heads-up, especially if you’re leaving early. It helps housekeeping start cleaning sooner, which means faster check-ins for the next guests.

Some travelers said they only notify the desk if they’re leaving well before check-out time, because “what’s the difference?” if they’re leaving when they’re supposed to.

Then there’s the “old school” camp, insisting you should always stop by to make sure there are no issues or surprise charges. Detractors call that a Boomer move… after all, most hotels email receipts now. Others say they’d happily check out in person… if there were actually someone at the front desk when they walked by.

One commenter offered a middle ground: mention you’re leaving as you pass. “It just takes 10 seconds,” they said. “This is a weird thing to feel like a bad-a** over.”

So, is the personal check-out a dying tradition, soon to join travel agents, printed boarding passes, and hotel alarm clocks in the history books? Possibly. Until then, hotel lobbies will remain neutral ground for the generational battle over whether you exit with a polite wave… or pull a full-on Houdini.

@the.shit.chat

The front desk doesn’t need you to tell them you’re checking out and they don’t need you to hand them your room key.

Wendy’s Went Full Goth for Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’—I Waited in Line Five Hours for It

Yes, you read that right. I waited in line five-and-a-half hours for Wendy’s, but it wasn’t an ordinary Wendy’s. It was Wednesday’s.

For one day only – a Thursday for some reason 🤷‍♀️ – a location in Norwalk, California was transformed into a Wednesday Addams-themed spookfest to celebrate Season 2 of Netflix’s “Wednesday.”

“The Meal of Misfortune”

It was a themed drive-thru experience, and I got to try the new “Meal of Misfortune” a few days earlier than the rest of America.

The meal includes “Rest in 10-Piece Nuggets,” “Cursed & Crispy Fries,” a “Raven’s Blood Frosty” (vanilla with a dark-cherry swirl), and two mysteriously spicy “Dips of Dread.” There’s a total of four different sauces you can get. Oh, and they’re different shades of purple, too.

The Raven’s Blood Frosty is great!

The Frosty was probably my favorite part. It includes a purple spoon that has a handle with a raven and skull. Since it was a special event, I also received a collectible pin at the start of the experience.

Not your normal drive-thru experience

Once I ordered my meal, I drove through the foggy “Nevermore Academy” gates and into different rooms inspired by the show. At the end, a worker got your order by opening a morgue door.

You can try it too… without waiting five hours.

Wendy’s announced the “Meal of Misfortune” would be available nationwide starting Monday, August 4th, just in time for the new season of “Wednesday” premiering August 6th.

Yes, I waited 5 and a half hours for the Wendy’s x “Wednesday” pop-up event! 🍟👻🖤 #pov #wednesday #addamsfamily #Netflix #wendys #spooky

Sharpies as Lip Liner? TikTok Trend Sparks Toxic Backlash

In today’s episode of “things we probably shouldn’t have to say out loud,” TikTok has blessed us with yet another beauty hack that’s equal parts bold and baffling: people are using Sharpie markers as lip liner.

One TikToker raved about her DIY Sharpie lip, even tagging the company and requesting more shades.

Unsurprisingly, beauty influencers and actual experts are not exactly lining up to co-sign this trend. One user admitted her lips felt dry and she could “smell the chemicals.” Another chimed in with the not-so-reassuring observation that her lips “weren’t burning”… but definitely didn’t feel right.

And here’s the thing: it’s not just about a weird taste or temporary dryness. Permanent markers like Sharpies are made with chemicals including xylene, toluene, and urethane resin. According to poison control experts, inhaling the fumes is already harmful… and applying that stuff directly on your mouth? Not good.

Sharpie’s official stance (because yes, this trend has become enough of a thing that they had to chime in): use the markers only as intended.

That means for art projects, not face-painting.

Dermatologists agree. One told Fox News the chemicals are “concerning” and “risky” for skin and lips. The good news? If you’ve tried it once, you’re probably okay… just, you know… don’t do it again.

As much as TikTok loves a good beauty hack, maybe let this one dry out. Or at the very least, stick to products that were actually meant to go on your face. Your lips (and your lungs) will thank you.

Have You Ever Tried Ramen with Ranch Dressing?

Looks like somebody’s been reading “Are You Freaky Enough to Try These Sauce Combinations?” And they decided to buck all conventional wisdom and try one of the most unholy food combinations you can imagine.

Ramen with RANCH DRESSING. Talk about a hork fest.

New Trend: Adult Tummy Time

“Adult tummy time” sounds like a joke, but on TikTok, it’s apparently a full-blown wellness trend. Inspired by the same concept pediatricians recommend for infants, the idea is to lie flat on your stomach for at least 10 minutes a day. Why? To counteract the physical strain of modern life, particularly the so-called “tech neck” caused by hunching over screens for hours on end.

At best, it’s a DIY physical therapy move that’s easy to do at home. Just prop yourself up on your forearms or stay flat, and go about whatever you were doing—scrolling your phone, watching TV, or reading a book. Content creators claim it helps stretch out tight neck and shoulder muscles, improve posture, and reduce back strain.

The premise is rooted in real concerns.

“Tech neck” isn’t just a cute nickname; it’s a catch-all for the headaches, soreness, and reduced mobility that can result from constant downward gazing.

And unlike a trip to the chiropractor or massage therapist, this solution is free and accessible. But there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it.

Physical therapists and some TikTokers warn that poor form can make things worse. If you’re craning your neck upward, say, to watch TV or check your phone, that head tilt compresses your spine in the same problematic way as slouching, negating any benefits.

The better approach is to keep your spine and neck aligned. Reading a book placed flat on the floor or using a small cushion to prop your chest up slightly can help maintain good posture.

Like many viral wellness hacks, this one may not be a cure-all, but it could be a step in the right direction for people trying to be more mindful of their body mechanics.

The Vital Role of the Prone Position in Developmental Muscular Growth and Stability Spending time in a prone position, also known as ‘tummy time’ is a key developmental stage in infants for a crucial reason – it plays a significant role in developing the necessary stabilizing and postural muscles required to stand upright and move around eventually. The relevance of tummy time for babies is well-documented. As a study in the journal Early Human Development (2016) highlights this position being fundamental to the development of muscles and motor skills, contributing substantially to their physical growth. Without adequate tummy time, babies can experience a delay in developing crucial skills, such as rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and eventually walking. However, this position is not only vital for infants. The principles that make tummy time beneficial for babies also apply to adults, particularly when it comes to remedying postural issues and restoring functional capabilities. When adults spend time in a prone position, they can stimulate the development and conditioning of neglected muscle groups. The prone position facilitates the engagement of core stabilizing muscles, posterior chain muscles, and shoulder girdle muscles. These muscle groups are often neglected in day-to-day activities, leading to imbalance and postural complications. A study published in the Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation (2018) highlighted the positive impact of prone position exercises on back pain patients. The research showed that such exercises significantly improved functional disability, pain intensity, and lumbar mobility. Give this position a try, but ease into it. For prone position to occur, your hips, pelvis, and spine must all be able to extend together, which is a challenging function for bodies that have adapted to sedentary lifestyles and spend most of their time flexed in chairs. Softly approach this, 5 min might not feel like much until it’s time to get out of it. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE tummy time! But if you’re working on your forward head posture, make sure to make this adjustment so you’re not reinforcing the forward head position #mindfulmovementandliving #forwardheadposture #neckhump #tummytime

Spicy or Sacrilege: Adding Jalapenos to White Wine?

You may have heard of putting fruit in your wine. Maybe even ice cubes. But jalapeños? That’s not a mix-up from a rowdy brunch. It’s a real thing.

A viral trend is heating up TikTok and Instagram, where spice lovers are adding frozen jalapeño slices to their chilled Sauvignon Blanc.

On the surface, it sounds like someone mixed up their glass of wine with their margarita during happy hour. But this isn’t just a one-off cocktail experiment. It’s become a full-on phenomenon, especially among fans of bold flavor pairings.

Enthusiasts are calling the combo “refreshing, light, and spicy,” though some videos show that the heat level can be intense depending on how many seeds make it into the glass.

What’s surprising is that even wine snobs aren’t entirely against the idea. Some oenophiles are actually backing the trend, citing chemistry to explain why it works. Sauvignon Blanc is known for its grassy, citrusy, and sometimes “green” notes—thanks in part to pyrazines, a class of organic compounds that also give jalapeños and bell peppers their characteristic aroma. So the pairing, while unconventional, isn’t entirely unnatural from a scientific perspective.

One expert went a step further, rimming the glass with chili salt to double down on the flavor fusion.

That bold twist drew comparisons to a spicy margarita, only with the sophistication of wine and the zing of jalapeño.

Wine purists might still shudder, but the trend has sparked genuine curiosity among casual drinkers, foodies, and flavor chasers. It’s not the first time social media has reshaped how people enjoy wine: remember the frosé craze or red wine in Coca-Cola (aka Spain’s kalimotxo)? As long as the internet keeps experimenting, the wine world may need to keep adjusting its palate.

So if you’re looking to cool off with something crisp and catch a buzz with a bite, a Sauvignon Blanc with jalapeño just might be your next summer sip.

New Grad Goes Straight to Work, Gets Rewarded by TikTok

In a time when viral fame often comes from stunts or pranks, one Atlanta teen is making headlines for all the right reasons.

Just hours after donning his cap and gown for graduation, 18-year-old Mykale Baker clocked in for his shift at Burger King—still wearing his full graduation attire. According to the video, the graduation didn’t end until 10:00 PM.

The moment, captured in a now-viral TikTok by a customer, has struck a chord with thousands of people online, sparking a wave of admiration and generosity.

It shows Mykale standing in the Burger King kitchen, clearly fresh from the graduation stage, ready to take orders with the same commitment he’s likely shown in school. The contrast between the formality of his gown and the fast-food setting quickly turned the photo into a symbol of grit and determination.

The woman who took the photo, moved by Mykale’s work ethic, started a GoFundMe to help support his college dreams. What began as a modest fundraising effort has now grown into something life-changing.

Within days, the campaign blew past $150,000 in donations—more than enough to cover tuition, books, and then some.

Mykale became an internet sensation overnight, but also a beacon of what hard work looks like in action. With the support of strangers rallying behind him, he’s now free to pursue higher education without the financial weight that burdens so many young students.

The story is especially resonant for communities who understand the hustle it takes to get ahead. For many, Mykale’s decision to show up for work on one of the most important days of his life wasn’t surprising; it was relatable.

As the GoFundMe page puts it, “From Burger King to a College Dream.” Thanks to the internet’s better instincts, that dream is now very real.
